Matthew Johnson

is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and a licensed Primary Care Provider in the state of Florida. He completed an accelerated four year program at the Florida College of Integrative Medicine (FCIM). The curriculum included both Western and Eastern medical education, which offered comprehensive training in acupuncture and herbal formulas, as a natural approach to health care. Western course work included extensive studies in Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Pathology, Clinical Neurology, Radiology, and Pharmacology. Prior to attending FCIM Matthew had received his Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Florida State University (FSU).

Matthew has spent his life in service to others. After High school he joined the Army, where he served 7 years, which included service during wartime. He is an honorably discharged decorated veteran. After his service many injuries acquired during his enlistment began to give him some trouble, and this was compounded after leaving FSU when he was involved in a major motorcycle accident. The injuries were extensive and the rehabilitation would span over a decade. Matthew faced surgeries, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and constant medication. After years of recovery Matthew had come to a point where he was told this is as good as it gets. Unable to feel his fingers some days, constant varying levels of pain, and limited range of motion, he visited an acupuncturist for alternative therapies. Medications were cut back until no longer necessary and pain was relieved greatly. Range of motion was improved and strength returned to major muscle groups. The mental aspects of this life changing injury were addressed. Also, diet and nutrition were adjusted and played a key role in reaching higher levels of recovery. His intense struggles lead him back to school in order to learn Acupuncture and Oriental medicine. This makes him uniquely qualified to treat the most complex pain cases. Matthew takes extreme pleasure in getting people back to living a higher quality of life that was once limited by their pain with safe and effective natural methods.

Your initial visit with Matthew will include a detailed intake, a physical exam if necessary, reviewing or ordering of pertinent labs, and a treatment plan formulated to your individual needs. Services offered include, but are not limited to, injection therapy, dietary and lifestyle guidelines, herbal therapy, and oriental medical treatment techniques. Matthew has a special interest in sports injury and pain management.

Matthew is married with 2 sons. His oldest son attends Valencia Community College and his youngest son is in his senior year of high school. In all, Matthew holds 5 degrees and has spent over 12 years in upper division collegiate course work coupled with extensive clinical hours. He draws strength from a family that never gave up on him during his intense recovery, and he strives to bring the same balance of health and wellness he has found to every patient he encounters.
